Profile Volkswagen Motor Polska( based in Polkowice) is a diesel engine factory
belonging to the largest European concern, Volkswagen AG, and is the
largest manufacturer of engines for passenger cars in Poland. VMP was
established in May 1998 and has been 100% owned by Volkswagen AG
since the beginning. Volkswagen Motor Polska is integrated within the
Volkswagen brand, which is one of the twelve group brands. The
company currently employs around 1ooo people and the investment in its
construction and start-up to date has amounted to more than €300
million. The company has set itself the goal of increasing productivity
while ensuring the highest quality of its products. This has resulted in a
production capacity of more than 700,000 diesel engines per year.
Products from Polkowice go into such Volkswagen types as Golf, Polo,
Passat, Touran and Caddy.
Challenge At the Polkowice Volkswagen factory, every tenth employee is a woman.
Most of the female employees are also mothers who are able to reconcile
professional work with the difficult and responsible mission of being
mothers. VMP wanted to implement a system to help women during
pregnancy even before the child is born
Solution Introduce a system to help women during pregnancy even before the
child is born called “Future Mother”
The program is aimed at improving the comfort of pregnant women at
Policy parameters work. It consists, among other things, in allowing mothers-to-be to work
six and a half hours a day while retaining the right to full pay.
A pregnant woman can also work a full eight hours and collect her free
hours to use later, at a time that suits her.
Development & Aiming to become the best employer, Volkswagen Motor Polska offers
oversight working conditions that in many ways are exemplary not only for the car
industry but nationwide. Pregnant women can benefit from reduced
working hours or stay at home with their baby for longer after the birth.
For these actions, Volkswagen Motor Polska was honored in the
nationwide "Mom at Work" competition.
