Being a very small organization, the CEO has not adopted particular policy
Policy parameters parameters, limiting himself to placing employees in smart working.
The operational regulation was left to the self-management of the working
group. Supervision focused on meeting deadlines and the quality of outputs.
Development & Smartworking was very welcome to the staff. The following simple rules have
oversight been adopted:
● I work 100% in smart working
● The moments of discussion between the five colleagues took place on the
meet platform constantly
● Particular attention was placed on achieving the objectives within the set
deadlines
The only problem is the lack of real interaction between colleagues and the
tendency not to disconnect from work and therefore to work much more.
After the end of the Pandemic, i.e. from October 2022. SVIMED preferred to
maintain the current organizational structure with some mitigations. In fact, it
was decided to dedicate 60% of the time to smart working and 40% to face-to-

face work for all employees.
The autonomy of employees with respect to the organization of their work has
increased.

Profile In addition to the two-year period, four specializations are managed: Chemistry,
materials and biotechnology, Electronics and electrical engineering, Computer
science and telecommunications, Mechanics and mechatronics and an evening
course for workers with specializations in Electronics and electrical engineering,
Computer science and telecommunications, Mechanics and mechatronics.
The school is divided into three groups of separate buildings, destined
respectively for the workshops (single-storey pavilion located south towards via
Palermo); to the classrooms (central intermediate body made up of seven floors
above ground) and to the gymnasiums whose composite volume is adjacent to
that of the great hall (to the north, towards Via Pisacane).
The Institute has a strong demand for enrollments that it is unable to fully
absorb. Our students come from all over the city of Catania with a very diverse
and varied social, cultural and economic background.
It covers an area of about 20,000 square meters with two entrances from via
Carlo Pisacane 1 to the north and from via Palermo 282
The institute has a structure of 150 teachers, 30 units of administrative staff and
1200 students.
Challenge During 2020, the Institute, like all Italian schools, had to face the sudden wave
of the COVID19 pandemic. The Management found itself having to apply the
measures of the Ministry of Education which imposed the distance training of
students to avoid the multiplication of infections between staff and students. It
